Planning Approach


Individual investments and the markets fluctuate over time, and as professionals, it is our job to enable clients to make informed financial decisions using the full complement of resources that we offer.

Our planning-based approach is a dynamic, team-based endeavor and provides a framework for making decisions collaboratively while monitoring the outcome of those decisions over time. Each step involves interaction between the Marcum Financial Services team, the client, relevant family members and outside professionals if needed.

Planning Approach


We use a variety of tools including questionnaires and interviews to understand personal goals, current financial situations, investment experience and risk tolerance. During this step, we make clients fully aware of our capabilities and scope of services and provide educational support to help them meet their objectives.


Our team analyzes the information and designs solutions intended to help clients reach their objectives. This step may involve collaboration with other specialists and professionals. We present our recommendations, answer questions, consider alternatives and outline steps to implement a plan.


We execute a customized strategy using the extensive tools available. This involves the selection of specific account types, investment products and optional services. This step also includes coordinating and completing the necessary paperwork.


Once implemented, we continually monitor the progress of our recommendations relative to the defined objectives and suggest changes where needed. A key to this step is the client's involvement and communication of any significant life changes. We accomplish this by providing ongoing reporting of account activity and conducting periodic reviews.

5 Step Consultative Client Management Process

The Marcum Financial Services' Consultative Client Management (CCM) Process is based on a series of five meetings with our client. (See Exhibit 10.5 for an overview of the process.) Because it is a true consultative process, it will yield substantial dividends:

  • The client will be perfectly positioned to leverage Marcum Financial Services' core competency in their relationship with their financial advisor.
  • The client will build a high-quality relationship where they are very satisfied with their Marcum Financial Services advisor.
  • The client and advisor together will uncover their true financial issues with a high degree of accuracy, which in turn will enable the client and advisor to determine the appropriate actions for addressing those issues.

Each meeting in the consultative process is designed to address needs, provide first-class service and build a long-lasting relationship with our clients while fostering trust, meeting goals and objectives and delighting our client. Our CCM Process provides us the ability to deliver a consistent, high-quality client experience, while easily differentiating Marcum Financial Services from our competition.
